The Red Lion Area Educational Foundation began in 1996, in main part, due to a gift of $100,000 to develop a program to provide dental care to those students who could not otherwise obtain quality dental care because of financial limitations. From this initial donation, the Red Lion Area Educational Foundation became a reality. Providing dental support to our students became a major pillar of our purpose as a foundation. Twenty-four years later, our commitment to this pillar of dental support for our students remains a major focus of our foundation. As a board, we yearly reflect upon and celebrate the positive impact our foundation has had on the students of the Red Lion Area School District.

The partnership of the Red Lion Area Educational Foundation with the district’s dental hygienist, Kathi Hunger Sanders, and some local dental offices, has made a tremendously positive impact on each child’s affective and cognitive development. Because of this partnership, students are no longer in pain. Because of this partnership, students are smiling in the classroom. Because of this partnership, students are now actively engaged with their lessons and in their interactions with their classmates.
